We all like to have a drink or two during the festive season – it’s a tradition we partake in Australia-wide. It is important to be responsible when you drink – and that includes how your behaviour influences your kids and the kids around you. Here are some tips to be a positive influence around alcohol this Christmas.
- Young people are perceptive – they notice what is happening around them. Sit down and talk openly about alcohol and the effects it can have on a growing body and developing brain, rather than just saying “it’s an adult drink”.
- Your children will be curious about alcohol and may ask to ‘taste’ your drinks. It doesn’t help that many alcoholic drinks are in bright colours, and have appealing smells.
